Ipamorelin, the first selective growth hormone secretagogue (Raun K et al., 1998)
Description
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide (Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH₂) and a selective agonist at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a, the ghrelin receptor).
In preclinical research it has been studied for its ability to stimulate growth hormone release from the anterior pituitary with greater selectivity than earlier GHS compounds — notably without significant elevations in cortisol, prolactin, or ACTH.
It is used as a research tool in studies of the ghrelin/GHS receptor system and pulsatile GH secretion.
For research purposes only. Not for human consumption.
